First term 2015-16

Our first term has been a very exciting term with many positive events! We hosted our first World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and we held our annual fundraising Jeans for Genes day raising £400 for children affected by genetic disorders.

As part of the Mayor’s endeavour to encourage and aspire volunteers throughout the city we welcomed 2 representatives of the ‘WE DAY’ charity to our phase assembly.  The volunteers spoke with pupils from years 3 to 6 about the importance and benefits of volunteering.

We look forward to many more inspiring events next term. We wish you a safe and restful half term.

Exhibition of work

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended this years’ Exhibition of Work. Once again our hall was transformed into a beautiful celebration of creativity and hard work. The children of Jessop Primary had the opportunity to showcase their homework projects based around the theme of Black History Month. If you missed this exhibition then don’t worry; some of the outstanding work will be on display in Carnegie Library for the next month.

Carnegie Library - Assembly for years 1 to 6

On Wednesday the 7th October, we invited Caroline form Carnegie Library into Jessop Primary School. The children felt inspired to visit the Library through an exciting assembly and a story-telling session. We used the day to re-launch our long standing relationship with the Library and sent all of the children home with a Library registration form. All children will start visiting the library from next term so make sure you complete yours and bring it back to school!

We would like to say a massive thank you to Caroline from Carnegie Library for their support and hard work!

Nursery Open Day

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came along to our Nursery Open Day sessions on Tuesday the 6th October. Black History Month

Jessop’s Black History Month officially launched with School Assembly for Years 1-6. Bigfoot Arts Education Company performed "Windrush" - an engaging one woman play depicting a character's journey from her hometown in Jamaica to the UK on the Empire Windrush. As well as this, workshops were held for classes throughout the day, which allowed for the understanding of how different cultures have impacted upon British society (from food, to dance & music, etc). At the same time the workshops made links to the Jessop’s creative curriculum - "My World and Me".
