Dad's Football

On Friday 13th May there was a slightly older crowd playing football on the Jessop Pitch. Dads and male carers joined together to play against the Jessop staff in a fantastically entertaining football match. Along with showing off some silky skills it was also a great opportunity for staff and parents to work together and shed the typical staff / parent roles.

Pupil Advice for SATs Week (09/05/16 - 13/05/16)

Go to sleep earlier than usual

• Sleep is often be beneficial
• It means starting the day bright and ready

Don't skip breakfast 

• Breakfast is an important meal of the day, but even more so when sitting exams
• With tests often being in the morning, it's crucial something is eaten before starting the school day, even if feeling too nervous for breakfast

Keep revision quick and concise

• If there is revision to do this week - keep it short and in bursts of 30 minutes. 
• Use post-it notes / revision cards to boost already learned facts rather than read the textbooks.

BikeAbility

Well done to some of our Year 3 and Year 4 children who have recently completed their level 1 Bikeability training. Bikeability is the nationally recognised cycle training programme.

It’s about acquiring the practical skills to cycle safely and with confidence on today’s roads.

Level 1 is designed to give children control over their bike and takes place in groups in a space away from traffic such as a playground or closed car park. Check the Cycle Confident website at www.cycleconfident.com for details.

End of Spring Term

We have had yet another amazing term ending with the Spring Fair with a great range of stalls and activities with Henna tattoos, egg painting amongst many other activities. Even though it has been a short term our children and staff have taken part in many events and activities such as World Book Day where they dressed up as their favourite characters. Another one of our biggest events this term was Period Day where we all took a step back to the 1940’s!

We wish you all a restful holiday and we look forward to seeing you rested and refreshed for the summer term.

Robo Challenge

Members of the Jessop Primary School Digital Leaders club took part in the IBM Robo Challenge Event on Saturday 12th March 2016 to demonstrate their programming skills of an NXT Robot.

Setting off early on a foggy Saturday morning in trepidation of the day ahead; nerves were quelled as experienced members informed the ‘newbies’ of what to expect. Throughout the day the children took part in numerous activities, tasks and challenges that enabled them to demonstrate their programming dexterity and imagination.

It was a closely fought competition with Jessop managing to place 4th for the best-dressed Robot and reaching the semi-finals of the drag race.

Well done to all those who took part - and a special congratulations to Aliyah for winning the Human Bingo, a networking & information gathering challenge.

All of the children enjoyed the day immensely and learned lots from the experience.
